Sep 26 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Preview: Dover International Speedway

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Sept. 26, 2017) – This Friday, Harrison Burton and his RUUD/DEX Imagining No. 12 Toyota team will compete for the 2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) Championship. Alpine, Calif., native Sheldon Creed will join Burton, driving the No. 40 United Rentals/A.M. Ortega Construction Toyota, and Las Vegas, Nev., driver Riley Herbst will make his first start with MDM Motorsports, driving the No. 41 Terrible Herbst Toyota.

Burton enters Friday’s NKNPSE National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 125 presented by Carl Deputy & Son Builders at Dover International Speedway in Dover, Del., second in series points, eight points behind the leader. The Huntersville, N.C., driver has had a breakthrough season scoring 13 top-10 finishes, 11 top-five finishes, four wins and two poles in 13 starts this season.

His teammate, Creed has had a breakthrough season of his own in the ARCA Racing Series (ARS) Presented by Menards. In 10 ARS starts this season, the 19-year-old driver has scored eight top-10 finishes, five top-five finishes and a pole. He has made three NKNPSE starts this season, scoring a season-best fifth-place finish at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on July 15. Herbst, a full-time ARS competitor, will pilot the No. 41 Terrible Herbst Toyota Camry for MDM Motorsports in Friday’s NKNPSE race. He scored his first career ARS victory at Pocono Raceway located in Long Pond, Pa., on June 9.

Harrison Burton, driver of the RUUD/DEX Imaging No. 12… Burton enters the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 125 presented by Carl Deputy & Son Builders just eight points behind the current NKNPSE points leader. He has had a career-best season that has included four NKNPSE victories. He finished sixth in last year’s NKNPSE finale at Dover International Speedway after qualifying eighth.

Burton on Dover: “It all comes down to this, and we’re ready. This No. 12 MDM Motorsports team has given me great racecars all year long, and although we would rather be leading the points right now, we feel very confident heading into the last race of the year at Dover. We had a great car at Bristol earlier this year, and we ended up winning. Bristol is concrete like Dover, so I know we have a good set up for this type of track. It’s time to go get it done this weekend, and close the deal.”:

Sheldon Creed, driver of the United Rentals/A.M. Ortega Construction No. 40… Creed enters the NKNPSE finale coming off one of his strongest ARS runs of the season. He finished third at Kentucky Speedway after leading a majority of the event. He finished fifth at New Hampshire Motor Speedway earlier in the season, his best NKNPSE finish of the year. The two-time Speed Energy Stadium Super Truck Series Champion will be making his Dover International Speedway debut on Friday behind the wheel of the No. 40 United Rentals/A.M. Ortega Construction Toyota.

Creed on Dover: “Dover is one of those tracks that you hear a lot about because of how unique it is. I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to race at a track with so much history. My No. 40 team has been on fire lately. We have been so fast. I know our time is coming, and I hope it is this weekend at Dover.”

Riley Herbst, driver of the Terrible Herbst No. 41… Herbst is having a career season in the ARS. He has scored nine top-10 finishes, five top-five finishes and a win at Pocono Raceway this season. He finished eighth in last season’s NKNPSE finale at Dover International Speedway. Friday’s National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 125 presented by Carl Deputy & Son Builders will be his first NKNPSE start of the 2017 season.

Herbst on Dover: “I am excited to run Dover again. We had a solid run at Dover last year. We’ve had a good season on the ARCA side this year, but because of the busy schedule, we haven’t been able to run any K&N East races. I’m excited to get the opportunity to race this weekend.”

Friday’s NKNPSE National Fallen Firefighters Foundation 125 presented by Carl Deputy & Son Builders is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29, at 5 p.m. ET. It will air on NBCSN, Friday, Oct. 6 at 10:30 p.m. ET.
