2017 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie Anthony Alfredo and part-time KNPSE racer Sam Mayer will lead MDM Motorsports into battle during this weekend’s NASCAR K&N East portion of New Hampshire International Speedway’s Full Throttle Fall Weekend in Loudon, New Hampshire.
The Apple Barrel 125 will take place on Saturday as part of a unique three-division, two-day racing event that also includes the NASCAR Pinty’s Series from Canada and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.
Mayer, who will race the Menards No. 12 Toyota, finished fifth on the road course at Watkins Glen in his last K&N Pro Series outing, utilizing his previous experience on road courses and wet tracks to come from 20th to that top five result. The 15-year-old Midwest second-generation racer has shown tremendous ability in the ARCA Racing Series and driving the JR. Motorsports No. 9 NASCAR late model on the CARS Tour this season as well.
His previous outing at Gateway Motorsports Park will be beneficial, he says. “I definitely think what I learned at Gateway is applicable at Loudon this weekend. I’m really looking forward to getting back with the MDM Motorsports guys. This has been a fun season for me with so many opportunities in all the different divisions. I’m excited to get on the track in New Hampshire and see what we can do.”
Alfredo has one win in the series this season with his Ceco Building Systems, Oxford Energy, JDRF Toyota No. 40, that coming at South Boston Speedway in Virginia. He also ran both the ARCA Racing Series event and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series event at Gateway earlier this season along with the earlier race at Loudon, so he is going in with some experience to draw from.
“I still have to pinch myself when I think about the fact that I’ve actually raced at tracks like New Hampshire and Gateway,” the easy-going driver said with his trademark grin. “We had a really good run at New Hampshire earlier this summer and I believe we are capable of winning the race this weekend.
New Hampshire is kind of a home race for me since I’m from New England, so I’d love nothing more than to take MDM Motorsports, our marketing partners and our fans to victory lane this weekend
The Apple Barrel 125 will get the green flag at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this Saturday, September 22 at approximately 1:45 pm. Practice and qualifying will take place on Friday, September 21st.
